The Possessions Of A True Christian Are Not On Earth

Appreciation to my fellow LJCCC  brother, Michael J. for this article

Praise God, A Christian Is Wealthy In Heaven  But Not On Earth

A Christian's Possessions

A tax officer came one day to a poor Christian to determine the amount of taxes he would have to pay. The following conversation took place:

"What property do you possess?" asked the assessor.

"I am a very wealthy man," replied the Christian.

"List your possessions, please," the assessor instructed.

The Christian said: “First, I have everlasting life, John 3:16.

Second, I have a mansion in heaven, John 14:2

Third, I have a perfect conscience & peace that passes all understanding, Philippians 4:7.

Fourth, I have joy unspeakable, 1 Peter 1:

Fifth, I have divine love which never fails, 1 Corinthians 13:8

Sixth, I have a faithful wife, Proverbs 31:10

Seventh, I have healthy, happy obedient children, Exodus 20:12

Eighth, I have true, loyal friends, Proverbs 18:24

Ninth, I have songs in the night, Psalms 42:8

Tenth, I have a crown of life, James 1:12"

The tax assessor closed his book, and said,

"Truly you are a very rich man, but your property is not subject to taxation."

I pray that all of us will have this kind of tax free "wealth."

This is what it means to be rich.......

Rich with the blessings of our Almighty God.

Blessed be His name forever. Amen!

The Passion Of Christ - Retreat

Picture show part of the participants

Sometimes it is good to go for a retreat. To spend time, reflecting our relationship with God. Human beings easily forget that they are creatures created by God. We act as though, we came into the world on our own.

So this retreat organised by The Light of Jesus Christ Covenant Community (LJCCC), City of Kota Kinabalu for its members was timely. It was held at the Catholic Retreat Centre, Bundu Tuhan, Ranau from 5 to 7 March 2010. It was well attended.

His eminence, Archbisop John Lee

The theme of the retreat was The Passion of Christ. It was an appropriate choice since March is in  the month of Lent. The Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu, his eminence, John Lee also gave a talk related to The Passion of Christ stressing that it was important to do penance during this Lenten period. He also said masses for the attendees including one on Sunday which was the closing session.

The video commentator

The movie, The Passion of Christ was shown to the retreatants and afterwards a video commentary given by a Catholic Scholar.  He described the meaning and symbolism of the various scenes. And most of the retreatants agreed, this help them to appreciate and understand the movie better. Rather than considering it to be, just a good movie which made them cry.

Elder, Brother Anthony Lim giving his input

After every commentary, Elder, Brother Anthony Lim also gave additional input. Each person has to reflect on the points raised by the commentator, And for the final commentary, there was a group discussion and each one was required to share, what part of the movie scenes touched him or her the most and why.

The musicians presented spiritual songs

Finally,  participants were given the opportunity to give a brief sharing. Most were touched by scene of the scourging, mother Mary (always physically present to give Jesus loving support), the two thieves (one condemned Jesus while the other was remorseful), etc..

The LJCCC is also planning to give the same retreat to the parishoners of Sacred Heart and others during this Lenten season.

We Can Never Be Wrong

What happened in the past will have a bearing in the present and also in the future. So we must be careeful with  our actions, it could affect us personally, others, society, environment etc.. The best policy is always to consider the outcome of  what we do. We can never be wrong if we have such atitude.

The past help us to better the present and the present help us to better the future. Our world is such, that these three components must be present, otherwise if one is absent, a link would be missing and the connection is not complete. And the world cannot go round. Just joking !
